Modify sales margins

You can manage the data of all your clients and add custom margin rules to each client or a group of clients.

Margin rule definition

You can set a margin rule by adjusting the properties, values and calculation method. In Cargo Office, you can apply the margin to a rate by adjusting the following properties :
  • Airline; you can set margins for a specific airline are set by selecting the IATA letter code;
  • Airport; you can set a margin to a single airport;
  • Region; margins can be set by adjusting the region code ; and
  • Zone; you can the zone property which defines margins to multiple regions.
In all of the above mentioned cases, the default value for every option is ‘ZZ’ or ‘ZZZ’. If the Airline, Airport, Region and Zone properties are all ‘ZZZ’, the default margin will be applied to all rates. However, when you adjust any of the margin default properties, the new margin rule will overrule the default margin.

Values and method

Cargo Office has two calculation methods. In both calculation methods the weight break value in the net rate is recalculated according to the margin rule values and method. Change the calculation method in the ‘%/€’ column from percentage to fixed value or vice versa. The fixed value will add/subtract to each weight break column in the rate or value defined in the appropriate margin rule weight break column. Percentage methods add/subtract the percentage from the rate if the net rate value is 100%.

Calculations are only applied to rate values with a value larger than zero. If a negative margin rule value results in a negative gross rate, the value is corrected to zero.

Groups and clients

Margins are a defined percentage or fixed value added to the published gross rates. Cargo Office has 2 types of margins:

  • Margin for a individual client Margins that are valid for an individual client; and
  • Margin valid for a group of clients Margins that are valid for a group of clients.

You can view the group margins by selecting a group in the Group management panel. In the bottom window you will find all applied margins for the selected group.

Client margins

By selecting a client in the Client overview panel, you will find all the relevant margins in the bottom window. The overview shows a combination of individual margins and group margins. In the situation that the result contains a group margin and an individual margin with identical properties (e.g. Airline, Airport, Region and Zone), the individual margin will be applied.
