Database
The configuration window allows you to select the database location and protects the data from being changed by other users.
Cargo Office allows forwarders with branches in different countries to purchase licenses across countries borders.
You can change the location where the data files are stored by using the database settings. Cargo Office uses the SQLite databases for local data storage. The default location is in the same folder as your application.
To change the location, click on the Locate button and select the new location in the file window.
Administrator password
Cargo Office allows you to protect the database with a password. The database protection also limits the user rights in applying changes to the data.
A database with password protection stops the auto update functionality for none administrator. This is useful in network environments with multiple users. Only the Administrator receives the updates, saves them to the central database and from then on become available to the other users.
To protect a database follow these 4 steps:
- In the Administrator password text box enter the desired password, click Apply to set the password to the database.
- The application confirms your password change and asks you to reenter the password to set the workstation with administrator rights.
- Enter the password again to obtain administrator rights.
- All users connected to the database need to fill in the password to become an administrator.
Maintenance
Database files keep track of all changes made to the database, this results in size increase of the data file. Huge datafiles will lead to a performance decrease. Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and data reliability.
