Vista installation

Vista operating systemCargo Office uses a database file which by default is installed in your program files folder. In Windows Vista the program folder is read-only by default. Read-only prevents Cargo Office from writing to your database and save any updates or changes.
There are several solutions to overcome the security issues with Windows Vista.

Solutions

  1. Open in your explorer the application folder (C:\Program Files\Cargoguide\Cargo Office). Select the CargoOffice.exe file. Use your right mouse button to open the application window. Select Run as Administrator. Cargo Office will now run Cargo Office with permissions to write changes to the database.
This is a one time solution. See next options for a permanent solution.
  2. Open the application window for the CargoOffice.exe with your right mouse button. Click the Properties item at the bottom in the menu. In the Property window open the Security page. At the bottom you'll find the Advanced button to change the security permissions. Select the user name and click Edit permissions to change the user's permissions to full control. Confirm your changes to apply the new permissions.
  3. If the installation is a single user installation move the 2 database files to your local data folder. In Vista you find this folder in:
    C:\Users\Yourname\AppData\Local\Cargoguide
Open the Cargo Office application folder. Select the coData.db3 and coDataClient.db3 file use cut (Ctrl+X) to copy the files to your clipboard. Go to the AppData folder and paste the files (Ctrl+V).
After you copied the database files start Cargo Office. In the login screen click the Change database location button. Click Locate to find the new database location. Confirm your changes, Cargo Office now uses the new database location.
  4. Like option above but create manually a folder in your Documents folder (e.g. CargoData). Copy the Cargo Office data files to the new folder and change in Cargo Office the database location.
  5. Disable Windows User Account ControlDisable Windows User Account Control (UAC). Please read the Microsoft Help before you disable UAC.
